I'll be the first to tell you that I do not have all the answers. My journey has taken me through dark corridors and lead me to dead-end paths. I've spent most of my searching confused as to how there could be so many conflicting ideologies and courses of action when it comes to health and wellness via food.

BUT ONE THING IS FOR CERTAIN — MY INNER SAVAGE HAS RISEN TIME AND AGAIN TO REDIRECT MY COURSE AND SHINE LIGHT ON THE TRUTH BEHIND FOOD. I CAN SAY, IN CONFIDENCE, THAT I AM CURRENTLY ON THE SENSIBLE PATH OF NUTRITIONAL ENLIGHTENMENT.

Having grown up in South Florida, I was instantly a lover of the outdoors and the endless opportunities of adventure. Thoroughly exposed to land and sea; fresh fish, lobster, venison, pork, and quail always seemed to find a way to my plate, most of which was caught by my family.

After college, I followed a growing desire to learn more about food in San Francisco where I studied at a Le Cordon Bleu program. There I learned some traditional French preparations while indulging in the rich flavors and abundance of fare we endlessly created in the kitchen.

AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, ONE YEAR EATING EVERY STOVE-TOP CONCOCTION HAD CAUGHT UP WITH ME. MY PREVIOUSLY SLEEK AND TONED FIGURE STARTED TAKING ON A NEW SHAPE WHICH I WAS NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT. I NEEDED TO TIGHTEN UP IN A HURRY AS I WOULD BE RELOCATING TO THE VIRGIN ISLANDS, TRADING IN MY CITY GARB AND CHEF'S COAT FOR A BIKINI AND FLIP-FLOPS.

With a growing interest in health and fitness, I consciously focused on refining my physique. Even back then I knew my body needed to reboot, so I combined the benefits of trending detoxes, Rolfing (structural integration), and simplifying my cooking techniques. I would head down to the beach for daily workouts, and my efforts quickly paid off.

Island life suited me, and my passion for travel exposed me to the natural beauty of the Hawaiian island chain. It was there that I further developed an appreciation for the land and the abundance of nutrients it provides. After two memorable years, I ultimately was lead back to Southern California where I expanded my interest in structural integration and attained a certification in Pilates.

Knowing that nutrition and fitness go hand-in-hand, I was in search of a quality program that steered away from fad dieting and focused some facts — mainly what has been proven for thousands of years, not just a few months. Then one day, while working for the leading surf forecasting and editorial company Surfline, I learned of a nutritional therapy program that aroused my curiosity and allowed me to cultivate my interest in the health and wellness field becoming a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.

THE PROGRAM WAS FOUNDED ON THE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH OF DOCTOR WESTIN A. PRICE, ONE OF THE GREATEST SCIENTIFIC MINDS CONTRIBUTING TO THE CONNECTION BETWEEN DIET AND OVERALL HEALTH, A DIET THAT HAD WORKED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. THIS PROVIDED ME WITH THE SKILL SET TO ASSES THE BODY'S NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES AND ADDRESS WEAKNESSES THROUGH DIET, SUPPLEMENTATION AND LIFESTYLE CHANGES.

I have a deep desire to continue my personal development and understanding of the global food supply, with emphasis on properly sourced, sustainably grown and raised products.

My experience working one-on-one with clients in the digital marketing realm has enabled me to aid businesses in creating compelling stories to share with the world. This, together with my knowledge and experience in health and wellness allows me to create individualized plans for my clients seeking a positive shift towards vitality.

Increased energy, weight loss, and mental clarity are just a few benefits my clients are excited about. I look forward to working with those seeking a paradigm shift from the current conventional ways, which are clearly not benefitting them, to more traditional proven methods that seem to have been lost amongst the misinformation and flood of fad dieting. Our ancestors were free from many of the common ailments and epidemics that we suffer from today. Perhaps this is something you currently have insight into or are seeking to learn more about. Join the tribe and let's share in this powerful knowledge as we vibrantly journey on!

In gratitude,
Lauren Tomeu, NTP
